It’s about to start the concert season of centro di promozione musicale Animando, association born in 2014 with the goal to develop the knowledge of composers and talented musicians from Lucca, both musicians that are still living there or that are coming back just to perform in the city that gave birth to important authors such as Giacomo Puccini, in primis, Alfredo Catalani, Luigi Boccherini, Francesco Xaverio Gemignani and Gaetano Giani Luporini, who passed away last year.
There are many news for the association chaired by president Paolo Citti. «The most important piece of new – he says – is the assignment of the artistic direction to maestro Stefano Teani, who is already well-known in the international music field, although he still hasn’t turned 30, we trust he will be able to give more value to our association».
Born in 1994 and full of talent, Stefano Teani graduated with full marks in piano in his early 20es in conservatorio Boccherini and then in composition and film scoring. Under the guidance of international renowned musicians he attends many masterclasses where he takes important knowledge to start that career that he carries on with passion, becoming one of the most appreciated conductors of his generation. In 2013 he start the activity of assistant conductor that will bring him to work with Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and, at just 22, with Riccardo Muti that appoints him personally to attend the Italian Opera Academy. In 2018 he’s been appointed as composer in residence in the Accademia di Montegral of Gustav Kuhn, of which is also personal assistant. «This role – the young musician explains – makes me very proud and encourages me to give my best for music and for the audience that I hope will come to the concerts I put in this season, that I created taking inspiration from the 3 creative periods of Pablo Picasso, since this year it will be 50 years from his death. It is known that the painter went through 3 different creative periods: the blue one, the pink one and the famous Cubism, to which I referred to create the event calendar, splitting them into three periods. Animando Blue, from February to April, with reflexive concerts, with programs of chamber music; Animando Pink, from May to August with bug events, orchestras, popularization and entertainment; Animando Cubed, from September to December, will have the biggest surprises, with events taking place in non ordinary locations, such as the Toyota dealership and the Convento dell’Angelo. And for the summer nights from June to August there will be the funny Aperitivi Musicali».
Animando’s season will start on saturday February 11 at Real Collegio with a show of music and dance, the artists involved will be the dancers Martina Di Riccio and Giampaolo De Francesco and the pianist Luigi Gargano. From then on there will be many concerts and events in the most beautiful locations of Lucca, where everyone will be able to take part to a variety of high level shows, as the gala of September 23 in memory of Maria Callas in the centenary of the death of the greatest soprano ever. There’s room for pop music and for the 18th century composers from Lucca as well, together with the Premio Betti for the best string quartet. The Animando season ends in December with a great concert still to define that will be performed by an orchestra composed by many different musical associations of the city.
